hi new to the 'ant game' i have a 60 litre ex tropical fish tank and was wondering if i could turn this in to a home for some ants?
if i have land in the centre for them to live on and water all the way round (island style) would this work?

can you buy leaf cutting ants anywhere?

any help much appreciated!

Hi scaredpassenger,

First of all, if you want to keep ants you better start with and easy'r one than Leaf cutting ants. Lasius Niger or something like that.

It could work with the fish tank but you have to make sure they can build a nest. for good ideas you can take a look at the gallery from this site.

For most ants I wouldn't recommend an island style formicarium. They may float across on rubbish and most of all a lot of them may drown.
