oh yeah, kansas is pretty dry. we are going to a rainy season here, so i water it whenever it rains. they're comfortable now, but im worried when the colony gets too large, how can i move them?
whats an ant island, i can't get anything from Europe, because they can't ship over the sea. i have a question about using Styrofoam as a nest, is that a good idea?
Mold shouldnt grow on a ytong, unles there are bits of food left over, but ur ants should be cleaning up after themselves, have you given them somewhere to dump there rubbish? usually they will do this in an outworld or something
It's not that. It's that the mould is growing on all the ytong (outside, inside, every side!!!!), but there is no place to dump the rubbish for the ants. And when you water the ytong do you let it soak through untill its full up with water? also how do you keep it vetelated?
You need an out world. That way you can feed the ants in it and they will bring there trash to it and you can clean it up. The y-tong don't need to be soaked fully. Just a part of it is fine.
The white stuff coming from your y-tong is not mould, just stuff from the y-tong. But if it is really mould you need to vigor a way out to prevent that.
@ Andrew: Ants need a moist (part of it) farm for there brood to develop. (most species) So i don't think the foam will work out.
